چکیده

In this paper we present a novel method for dominant motion analysis in crowded scenes, based on corner features. Corner features identify characteristic regions in the crowd. In our method, we initialize corner features on the scene, and advect them through optical flow. Approximating the moving corner features to individuals, their interaction forces, represented as endothermic reactions in a thermodynamic system, are computed using the enthalpy measure, thus obtaining the potential corner features of interest. These features are exploited to extract the orientation patterns, used as input priors for training a random forest. The experimental evaluation is conducted on a set of benchmark video sequences, commonly used for crowd motion analysis, and the obtained results are compared against other state of the art techniques.

İnsan Kalabalıklarının Baskın Kümeler Tabanlı Analizi Dominant Sets Based Analysis of Human Crowds

Due to recent advances in new camera technologies and the Internet, millions of videos can be easily accessed from any place at any time. A significant amount of these videos are for surveillance, and include actors such as humans and vehicles performing different actions in dynamic scenes. The goal of this study is to analyze human crowd motions in videos. More specifically, moving humans are ...

Towards crowd density-aware video surveillance applications

Crowd density analysis is a crucial component in visual surveillance mainly for security monitoring. This paper proposes a novel approach for crowd density measure, in which local information at pixel level substitutes a global crowd level or a number of people per-frame. The proposed approach consists of generating automatic crowd density maps using local features as an observation of a probab...

Finding Coherent Motions and Understanding Crowd Scenes: A Diffusion and Clustering-based Approach

Coherent motions, which represent coherent movements of massive individual particles, are pervasive in natural and social scenarios. Examples include traffic flows and parades of people (cf. Figs 1a and 2a). Since coherent motions can effectively decompose scenes into meaningful semantic parts and facilitate the analysis of complex crowd scenes, they are of increasing importance in crowd-scene ...

New insights into crowd density analysis in video surveillance systems. (Nouvelles méthodes pour l'étude de la densité des foules en vidéo surveillance)

Along with the widespread growth of surveillance cameras, computer vision algorithms have played a fundamental role in analyzing the large amount of videos. However, most of the current approaches in automatic video surveillance assume that the observed scene is not crowded, and is composed of easily perceptible components. These approaches are hard to be extended to more challenging videos of ...

Going with the Flow: Pedestrian Efficiency in Crowded Scenes

Video analysis of crowded scenes is challenging due to the complex motion of individual people in the scene. The collective motion of pedestrians form a crowd flow, but individuals often largely deviate from it as they anticipate and react to each other. Deviations from the crowd decreases the pedestrian’s efficiency: a sociological concept that measures the difference of actual motion from the...
